Cardiovascular Sonography Associate Degree Program Overview

Cardiovascular sonographers (CVS) help diagnose problems with the heart and vascular system (veins, arteries, etc.). They use ultrasound waves to create images and video of how the heart functions so physicians can identify and treat problems with their patients, such as clogged arteries, blood clots, deep vein thromboses, irregular heartbeats, and more.

The CVS degree program is design to teach students fundamental cardiovascular medicine concepts and practical techniques for taking:

The Cardiovascular Sonography Associate degree program is available to students in Central Florida with online coursework delivered by and degree conferred by Concorde's Jacksonville campus. Students enrolled in the program will complete on-campus lab assignments at the Concorde Orlando campus and in-person local clinical experiences arranged within 200-miles of the local Concorde campus.

Heart and Circulatory Diagnostic Sonography 

Concorde's Cardiovascular Sonography Associate Degree program is available to students in Central Florida. Online coursework and the degree is conferred by Concorde' Jacksonville campus, while in-person lab requirements are held at Concorde's Orlando campus.

The program covers cardiac and vascular anatomy and physiology, techniques for performing ultrasound imaging of various body structures, and general education topics.

The Cardiovascular Sonography program is delivered in a blended format. Courses are delivered entirely online by Concorde's Jacksonville campus with lab hours being delivered at the Concorde Orlando campus and in-person clinical experiences locally.

Cardiovascular Sonography Degree Program Objectives

To prepare competent entry-level sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for the following concentration it offers: Adult Cardiovascular Sonography

Cardiovascular Sonography Graduates Will Develop Skills to:

  • Be clinically competent to perform appropriate procedures and record anatomic, pathologic, and/or physiologic data;
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to exercise discretion and judgment in performance of diagnostic sonography;
  • Demonstrate appropriate communication skills; and
  • Demonstrate professionalism and growth in the profession.
