Concorde Staff
Concorde's newest program offering is a Surgical Technology online degree completion program whereby Certified Surgical Technologists can advance their education to an associate's degree. The program consists of nine classes, all offered through the Concorde Online campus.
With every new program comes questions. We thought we’d take the opportunity here to answer some of the most commonly asked questions, on Facebook and elsewhere. So, read on and learn how you can advance your diploma in Surgical Technology to an associate of applied science degree in as few as eight months.
You cannot get a surgical tech degree online can you? There is too much hands-on.
That is correct. This is a degree completion program for your associate’s degree. In order to participate, you must already hold your ST certification.
Now that you have the AA degree, if you have some credits, might they transfer?
Yes. The admissions staff will work to review existing credits for transfer credits. In some instances, as many as 32 of the 60 credits might be transferred in.
How does this help? I have 20 years in the field, and I am certified. I don't see why I need an associate's degree.
As the health care industry advances, many employers are requiring Surgical Technologists have a degree rather than certification. This program helps bridge current CSTs to their degree while remaining employed.
Is the program accredited?
The program is institutionally accredited by our national accreditor, the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.
Do you have financial aid available for online students?
Yes. While we do not guarantee financial aid, our Financial Aid advisors will work with students on any options they might have.
Do you accept military benefits?
We do have students that use their Veterans Administration benefits. They will want to speak directly with our VA representative.
Do you offer the program both part-time and full-time?
Yes, we offer both options.
It took me 16 months to complete my certification, and that was a fast track. I can't imagine learning what I had to in eight months. This was a very tough program. How is it only eight months?
Just to clarify, this is a completion program. It’s the continuation for currently certified Surgical Technologists to complete their associate’s degree to meet the two-year requirement.
