Concorde Career College’s Memphis campus was recognized as February Volunteers of the Month by Meritan* for their two-year community outreach effort of writing and creating Valentine’s Day cards for patients receiving in-home personal care.

“In the last two years over 500 different students have been involved in creating more than 400 Valentines for senior citizens,” said Amber Jackson, Concorde Career Colleges Student Services Advisor, Concorde-Memphis Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator, and Lamplighter Student Ambassador Program Coordinator.

Lamplighter Student Ambassadors are not only dedicated to helping their peers, but they also have a passion for community service and supporting those in need in the surrounding community. According to Jackson, Concorde’s student body is comprised of creative and caring individuals who want to help spread Valentine’s Day love throughout Memphis.

“Volunteering provides us with an opportunity to uplift and assist others in our community,” continued Jackson. “It allows us, as a college, to enlighten our students about their community’s needs and provides networking experiences and opportunities to connect with future patients.”

Concorde students, as aspiring healthcare professionals, were able to take this rewarding volunteer opportunity and build connections with Meritan staff while making a positive impact on individual’s lives.

“It’s been nice knowing that something so small was appreciated so much,” said Jackson. To learn more about programs offered at Concorde-Memphis, visit the campus website or call (901) 881-2694.
