Meet Rad Tech Clinical Coordinator Brian Yee

We here at Concorde like from time to time to spotlight a member of our faculty. We think it's good to let you know more about some of the bright minds and motivated instructors who teach our students. Today, we want to point the spotlight at Brian Yee, Clinical Coordinator for Concorde's Radiologic Technology program in Memphis, TN.

 

His educational background

 

Yee attended the Baptist Memorial Hospital Radiologic Technology program in Memphis from 1992-94. After passing his national boards, he has been licensed as a Radiologic Technologist for more than 22 years. In July 1998, he became board eligible to take the national registry in Computed Tomography (CT scan). He graduated summa cum laude from Pima Medical Institute (Tucson, Ariz.) and received his bachelor of science in Radiological Sciences.

 

How did he come to Concorde?

 

Yee spent 19 years imaging patients and working as a director/manager of a radiology department, performing clinical research and co-authoring three clinical research papers. Jennifer Daniels approached him in June 2012 about an opportunity to teach at Concorde - Memphis.

"I always have had, and continue to have, a passion for teaching and educating the future radiologic technologists in the U.S.," he said.

 

What he likes most about working in and teaching Radiologic Technology

"Patient care, first and foremost," Yee said. "My job has given me the opportunities to provide patients with the best care and compassion during their time of need. I stress this point to my students daily. Our No. 1 goal as radiographers is to provide the best patient care. Treat every patient like we would want to be treated."

Second, the technology in medical imaging is changing daily. In 1994, it took one hour to do a CT of the abdomen and pelvis. Today, that same procedure takes about 12 seconds.

"Lastly, I love the wide variety of jobs that are available for all Radiologic Technologists. Our degree can take us anywhere we want to go."

 

What he enjoys most about working with Concorde Radiologic Technology students

 

Yee said he gets the most joy when one of his students comes back to him and says thank you after they have passed their boards.

"I love to pass all of my knowledge down to the students, because one day they may be taking X-rays on me or one of my family members," Yee said.

 

Finally, Yee tells us something personal about himself

 

Yee loves to play golf when he gets the chance. He also enjoys flying his autel x-star drone, reading and staying abreast on the newest changes in technology in health care. He loves watching Game of Thrones, Good Eats with Alton Brown and Longmire.

 

Any hidden talents?

 

"That is a hard one," Yee said. "I'm an excellent cook."
