Concorde Staff
About three years ago, Dylan Matthews found himself at one of those proverbial crossroads in life.
A 2006 graduate of Winter Park High School, he spent much of the ensuing years working jobs as a server at area restaurants. He tried enrolling at a local college, but failed to find the support he needed as a student there and ended up dropping out. He was floating and knew he needed to do something that would move him toward the bright future he always envisioned for himself.
Discovering Concorde
It was right about then that he spotted an ad for Concorde Career Institute - Orlando.
"I always wanted to go back to school," Matthews said. "And, I knew I wanted to go into something in the medical field. I was just interested in helping people make their daily lives better.
"I was in between jobs and at home one day when I saw an ad pop up for Concorde. I made a call, took a tour and signed up the next day."

Becoming a Pharmacy Technician
Matthews enrolled in Concorde's Pharmacy Technician program, and in just nine months, he completed the real-world, comprehensive education and training he needed to earn his diploma and begin making a meaningful impact on his life and the lives of others in his community.
"I did more in nine months at Concorde than I did in a year-and-a-half at the other college I attended," he said. "Everything about the curriculum was good. They did a great job of breaking down all the different drugs and how to prepare them, distribute and store them.
"I definitely felt ready to go work in the field after I finished up."

Getting into your career quickly
Matthews graduated from Concorde in May 2015. Three months later, he was hired as a Pharmacy Technician at a local Walmart.
"I had a new job in a new career within a year of starting all this," said Matthews, now 28, married and a father of one. "I was getting a lot of good job leads from (Concorde); there were a lot of options. I'm in a really good workplace now. Concorde really catapulted me into a career that's made my life and the life of my family better."
So, what would Matthews tell a friend looking for a fresh start in his or her professional life?
"I would tell them they should go to Concorde," he said. "Make that little investment in yourself. You have to do that to get yourself to a better place.
"It was one of the better decisions I've made."
