Douglas Hughes, Director of Concorde's Surgical Technology Program in Portland recently had the opportunity to share his surgical technology knowledge in the Association of Surgical Technologists Journal: The Surgical Technologist.

With years of experience and a trove of information on the topic, Douglas provided his insight into surgical technology's humble beginnings in World War II, how someone can later transition into a surgical assistant online and on-campus and what the future holds for healthcare workers on this career path.
