Orlando Surgical Technology Program Director
Luis Ortiz, AAS CST
I am excited to introduce myself and invite you to tour Orlando campus' Surgical Technology program and labs.
While working in the OR as an Orderly, I quickly realized that surgical technology was a great next step in my healthcare career. It was a natural springboard into other areas of medicine and provided me with a sense of job security that I was seeking.
Being a surgical technologist is an amazing career, it affords me the opportunity to be impactful everyday and help change someone's life. I am constantly learning new things about the human body and surgical field.
My passion for surgical technology led me to education.
Students should understand that from day one they will be held to the same professional standard that surgical technologists practice everyday. We have a successful program because our surgical technology team, campus support and affiliates' all have the same vision ― student success! We take that very seriously.
With honest communication and accountability we are able to prepare the students for success. We embrace failure in the lab to lean to be successful in the operating room.
I am always excited about the opportunity to help someone fulfill their dreams and goals! So many people extended themselves to me so that I could grow. So I am grateful for the opportunity to do the same for our students. What more motivation do you need than that!
