Scholarship for Dental Hygiene Students of African/ African-American Descent
The National Dental Hygienists' Association (NDHA) is the professional organization for licensed dental hygienists committed to providing a professional foundation for African American/African decent dental hygienists and dental hygiene students.
To further its mission the NDHA has established a set of annual scholarships for dental hygiene students.
- Currently Enrolled in a Concorde Dental Hygiene program
- Maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA
- Download and complete scholarship application through ADHA website
- African/African –American descent United States citizen. Permanent resident status required (send proof if needed of residency)
- NDHA Undergrad Student Membership Application - verification can be a copy of card, letter from NDHA or canceled check made out to NDHA. a. Undergrad Student Membership is $35 to be sent with this application - (membership application in scholarship application)
- Copy of your official sealed transcript.
- Verification of Enrollment Form signed by Registrar or Office of Dean of Students - (form in scholarship application)
- Two letters of recommendations: a. One from dental hygiene faculty on official school letterhead b. One from non-family/personal reference
- Recent passport type photo – COLOR – Head Shot
- Financial need - (complete page 7) – Financial need may be taken into consideration for final determination of award. State need.
- Essay listing leadership skills and your goals for the future. Also, list evidence of community service on separate sheet.
- Briefly state how you will promote the NDHA Organization. Awards will be presented at the NDHA Annual Session President's Breakfast held on Sunday morning - (the year you apply).
Scholarship selection is through a third-party, Concorde does not guarantee award or eligibility. Application for scholarship does not guarantee enrollment or graduation into Concorde, nor employment and subsequent salary by any party.
