Lifetime appointment recognizes exceptional achievement in the profession

Dr. Adela Mills, dental hygiene program director at the Concorde–Miramar campus, was named to the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) Professional Fellows Class of 2024. The honor recognizes exceptional professional achievement in the dental hygiene field.

The ADHA selects fellows based on a demonstrated commitment to the practice of dental hygiene and to advancing their own continuing education, and a stellar reputation in areas of ethics, professional responsibility, and professional standards. An ADHA Professional Fellow is a lifetime designation if practitioners remain members of the association in good standing.

“I am so honored to be named an ADHA Professional Fellow – an appointment that illustrates the Association’s high level of trust in my accomplishments and service to the profession,” said Dr. Mills. “As a fellow and ambassador of the ADHA, I am committed to advancing the profession of dental hygiene, dental hygiene education, and serving the public with the highest ethical and professional standards of my field.”

Dr. Mills joined Concorde in 2021, where she serves as founding program director of the Miramar campus dental hygiene program. She has extensive experience as an instructor, consultant, executive coach, and dental hygienist. An active ADHA member and volunteer, Dr. Mills has served in the capacity of mentor, clinician and presenter. Most recently, Dr. Mills was selected to be a volunteer site visit accreditor representing the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) for new or re-accredited dental hygiene programs.

She has worked as a consultant to established dental practices and is an authorized Board of Dentistry, CE Broker continuing education provider for license renewal in the State of Florida.

Dr. Mills earned an Associate of Science in dental hygiene from Miami-Dade College, a Bachelor of Applied Science in dental hygiene from St. Petersburg College, a Master of Science in higher education administration from Florida International University, a Doctor of Education Leadership in dentistry from Liberty University, and numerous professional certifications.
